VICKI ARMOUR-HILEMAN

Vicki Armour-Hileman earned a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Iowa, and an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa's Writers' Workshop. Her first book, Singing to the Dead (University of Georgia Press), was a memoir about her experience with Mon refugees from Burma. The book was a finalist for the Kiriyama Prize for “books about the Pacific Rim and South Asia that encourage greater mutual understanding of and among the peoples and nations of this vast and culturally diverse region.” She is currently writing a second memoir (working title: Public Secret). Her poetry and essays have appeared in such places as the Iowa Review and the Denver Quarterly.
